My buddy and I were given half a hit each of what was supposed to be acid. We took it sublingually and I quickly started feeling something. The onset built into an MDMA-like feeling. My buddy was convinced it was just LSD kicking in, but I knew better.
My energy and sociability skyrocketed. It felt like I had done a thousand lines of coke. I was challenging friends to arm wrestling, wanting to spar, impersonating people with the most possible confidence. My mind was spinning between full-blown mania and psychosis.
Two friends thought it would be funny to take me to the gas station. I got in the car and asked if they were cold. They said it was freezing outside. I then realized I had not noticed any temperature change from inside the house all the way to the car. I touched my face and arms to make sure I still had basic feeling.
My heart was pounding relentlessly the entire time. It felt like a perpetual heart attack that never quite came. The stimulation was overwhelming and nothing like any LSD experience I have had. My buddy spent most of the night doing breathing exercises to keep his heart rate down.
The next day we discussed what had happened and agreed it was almost certainly an NBOMe compound. The bitter taste, the extreme stimulation, the temperature insensitivity, and the cardiovascular stress all pointed away from real LSD. The experience reinforced for both of us why testing your substances is not optional.
