this is just my opinion, I'm just trying to gauge what the community thinks about this, feel free to agree or disagree
We do a lot of praising the gabagoodness here, but I think it could be very beneficial for people if this forum were also an open place of discussion in terms of addiction/harm reduction. Not only could this benefit those of us who are struggling, but it could also serve to enrich the quality of this sub as a whole.
Personally, I have struggled with a phenibut/gabapentin addiction for a little over a year now. At my maximum I was dosing 5g of phenibut with 1.8g of gabapentin. I have been tapering off both of them over the past 2 weeks and have relatively comfortably brought my usage down to 2.5g phenibut and 1.2g gabapentin. I say "relatively comfortably" because while it still sucks ass, it is nothing compared to the utter hell that cold turkey quitting is. I know, I've tried.
My method is essentially just keeping a journal of how much I took every day and force myself to take just a little bit less each day. It takes a lot of willpower and I feel anxiety almost every evening as the withdrawal creeps back.
But I am proud of myself for getting this far. A 50% decrease in phenibut and a 33% decrease in gabapentin over the course of 2 weeks isn't nothing...
But yeah, while we all love and praise the gabagoodness, I personally would love it if we could be honest about the addictive potential and be willing to talk to and support eachother if anyone needs it. I know i am not the only one of us who struggles with this. This sub could be much more than just a constant gaba rally, in my opinion.
But of course I am just a mod, it would be up to this entire community to be willing to do this.
