It's much gentler on the mind than LSD and Shrooms but I would still say it's definitely a full psychedelic experience (and not a cheap clone by any means).
Onset: YMMV. I took a medium dose and 5 minutes in I noticed laughter, some euphoria and my body vibrating. My friend took a large dose and he called it total BS until it all hit him at once an hour later.
Visuals: I don't get strong visuals from any psychedelic, unfortunately. However, this one at least amplified colors and made me see many minor details in my vision that I had never observed before. Others have said 4-HO-MET offers equal if not much superior visuals compared to other psychedelics, and that's probably true.
Mental: This definitely has the signature psychedelic feel to it: your senses, self, surroundings, memories, and thoughts are all noticeably altered. However, while the experience is immersive and beautiful, it doesn't push you into the deep introspective territory that LSD or mushrooms can. The headspace is lighter and more playful.
Body: There's a pleasant body buzz that comes and goes. Nothing uncomfortable, no tension or vasoconstriction like you might get from lysergamides. Some mild nausea on the comeup but it passes quickly.
Social: Excellent for hanging out with friends. The giggles are real and persistent. Conversation flows naturally and you don't get lost in recursive thought loops at normal doses.
Overall this is a fantastic substance for anyone who wants the psychedelic visual experience without the heavy mental load. It won't change your life or give you deep revelations, but it will give you a beautiful, fun, and memorable experience. Highly recommended as a first psychedelic or for recreational use.
