Theacrine is a purine alkaloid found naturally in kucha tea (Camellia assamica var. kucha), cupuacu fruit, and certain species of coffee. Structurally related to caffeine, theacrine provides sustained energy, motivation, and cognitive enhancement with two significant advantages: it does not build tolerance with chronic use (demonstrated in a 60-day clinical trial) and it produces less anxiety, jitteriness, and sleep disruption than caffeine. Marketed commercially as TeaCrine by Compound Solutions, theacrine has become a staple ingredient in nootropic stacks and energy supplements. It acts through adenosine receptor modulation and dopaminergic signaling, with a longer duration of action than both caffeine and methylliberine.
